Hi There! It’s official, all things “Christmas” are put away nestled in their bins ready for next year….
So now what? LOL! Well, if you are like me I enjoy a clean slate every January and like to re-evaluate my spaces.
Trends come and go and styles change, but what remains a constant in my home is a neutral backdrop that compliments any style or colors I choose.
My favorite neutral color that is on the walls in my entire downstairs (except dining room) is Benjamin Moore’s Balboa Mist.
This fabulous color is quite chameleon-like if you will. No matter what color you put it with… it works. The lighting in my spaces (like many) changes at different times throughout the day. This can pose a problem for many paint colors. But not for my trusty Balboa Mist! LOL! In my home, it works in every room any time of day.
If I had to describe it, I would say it reads grayish-taupe. It is warmer than a true gray, not cool at all. I guess you can say it is a more feminine gray;). It is very sophisticated and pretty.
This is a pic taken in 2015, but you can see how this neutral color compliments more saturated, bold colors such as the Christmas red shown here.
And here it is shown as a backdrop in my living room. In this space, I tend to use softer more neutral tones in my decor.
In my family room, a purple/pink orchid and aqua ceramics compliment this color as well!
Here is another picture using aqua/lighter blue tones in my family room.
I have used every color of the rainbow in my decor and never had a problem with it competing with Balboa Mist. As a matter of fact, I haven’t changed my wall color since using this color (it has been at least 5 years;)…that says a lot! LOL!
Remember, every paint color reads differently in every individual home and space. However, this gem is worth getting a sample and trying it:) Sometimes choosing paint colors can be overwhelming. I hope this gives you a jumping off point in choosing a complimentary neutral paint choice for your spaces.
Do you have a favorite neutral you use in your spaces? I’d love to hear!
Enjoy the rest of your week friends!
